These simple ideas and suggestions seem obvious but will help to make your morning run more smoothly and save time and prevent the stress of looking for things when you are trying to get out of the house on time.
Any small items that you might need every day should be either in a container in the hallway or kitchen.
A tub for sunscreen. A basket for hair ties and brushes. A hook for bookbags.
If you have a small container for everyday use items everyone can put them in the same place and know where they are. This works in practice with children as young as two years old.
You could get an extra 'hallway hairbrush', one that always stays near the front door.
If your child is given access to the items they need they can build up independence and confidence knowing they can do things themselves.
Have a small bucket for shoes for each child or by category, school, sports etc. The children can put their own shoes in and will get used to the routine and enjoy knowing where their shoes are.
Either take some photos of the things the children need or print off simple images and/or word cards as prompts so that you don't have to repeat yourself endlessly.
Children will quickly learn the routine and enjoy the order and independence.
